Nelson Associates is seeking an energetic, positive, self-motivated person to join a well-established professional design firm to work as a marketing director.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepare project proposals, qualifications, and company promotional presentations with input from architectural and engineering design personnel.
• Maintain and update company website and other company social media.
• Develop marketing strategy by studying economic indicators, tracking changes in the construction industry, identifying customers and their current and future needs, and monitoring the competition.
• Lead strategic planning with the management team.
• Contribute to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives.
• Maintain relations with customers by organizing and developing specific customer-relations programs, determining company presence at conventions, annual meetings, trade associations, and seminars.
• Provide short- and long-term market forecasts and reports by directing market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data.
• Influence present and future clients by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.
• Maintain research database by identifying and assembling client information.
• Provide marketing information by answering questions and requests.
• Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
• Complete marketing department operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
• Maintain marketing support with administrative staff by orienting and training employees.
• Maintain marketing staff job results by counseling employees and by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Develop staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending approved educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Client relationships, coaching, managing processes, self-motivated, marketing plan, subordinate involvement, customer focus, marketing research, analysis, developing budgets, financial planning and strategy.
• Master’s level education is a plus.
• Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks.

Salary Range: $55,000 to $70,000

Construction Services Representative:

Nelson Associates is seeking an energetic, positive, self-motivated person to join our well-established professional design firm to work as a construction services representative.
This is an administrative level position requiring knowledge in reading architectural, civil/structural, mechanical, and electrical construction documents, with the ability to manage project budgets and personnel. This individual will report to an officer of the company or the officer’s designated employees. This position requires site observation and assessment of conformance with the firm’s construction documents, and interaction with the firm’s professional and technical personnel during the bidding/construction phase work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attend construction meetings, review contractor schedules, prepare meeting minutes, and answer contractor questions/RFIs regarding construction documents.
• Review/monitor scheduling and time spent on the construction phase of projects in order to meet utilization targets and stay within project budgets.
• Provide document review prior to construction and report to the project manager any discrepancies or potential issues.
• Serve as liaison between contractor and project team for optimum communication and minimal disruption for project manager and technical staff.
• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates for projects, working with project team and using available resources.
• Support the process and procedures set forth in the construction documents and reinforce these procedures with all contractors.
• Assist the project managers with change orders, punch lists, and closeout documents.
• Demonstrate behavior that it professional, ethical, and responsible in all interactions with clients.
• Articulate the firm’s mission and goals to provide full service architectural and engineering services to the community.
Requirements:
• Minimum of a two year college degree in a technical field, preferably in the construction, architectural, or engineering fields.
• At least 10 years of construction management experience.
• Working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, and Word.
• Ability to work with multi-discipline project teams.
• Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that are well organized.
• Willingness to travel to job sites as directed.
Salary Range: $45,000 to $65,000

Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Manager:

Nelson Associates is seeking an energetic, positive, self-motivated person to join a well-established professional design firm to work as a mechanical/electrical engineering manager.
This individual will be an integral part of the architectural and engineering design group, working alongside engineers, architects, and project managers in performing technical design and specification. This individual will direct, manage, and regularly evaluate the mechanical/electrical engineering functions by working through assigned project engineers and technical personnel. This position is also accountable for promoting and implementing company and department goals and objectives in a positive and constructive manner that motivates staff. The position requires a strong “technical” working manager that can grow and mentor their team. The firm’s mission is to be a strong growth company that gives the opportunity to grow beyond this position for the right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify, plan, recommend, and manage a variety of technical projects through assigned project personnel and/or technical personnel.
• Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, education, health care, multi-family housing, and other related type projects.
• Produce contract documents, including plans and specifications.
• Perform heating/cooling calculations.
• Perform system sizing calculations.
• Prepare construction and design cost estimates.
• Work with multi-discipline project teams to coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection with architectural documents.
• Prepare technical reports.
• Perform review of calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by technical staff.
• Mentor and train entry-level mechanical engineers/designers.
Requirements:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology.
• 5-20 years’ experience working with mechanical and HVAC systems (mid to senior level desired).
• PE registration required.
• Skilled in AutoCAD (Revit a plus).
• Proficiency in the design of mechanical systems for various building types.
• Knowledge and understanding of national and local mechanical and energy codes.
• Strong knowledge of design of HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and understand P&IDs, control strategies, and the development of control schematics based upon these documents.
• Ability to work with multi-discipline project teams.
• Ability to make basic technical decisions regarding analysis and detailing.
• Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that are well organized.
Salary Range: $65,000 to $80,000

Architectural/Engineering Designer:

This individual will be an integral part of the architectural and engineering design group, working alongside engineers, architects, and project managers in performing technical design and specification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work under the direction of senior design staff preparing plans and details for projects, integrating architectural and engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
• Prepare scaled drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
• Implementing markups from senior design staff.
• Generate applicable AutoCAD documents in accordance with company standards.
• Generate project specifications.
• Field measure (off site).
• Review submittals.
• Perform material takeoffs.
• Draft work as it applies to creating backgrounds.
• Perform other duties/tasks assigned as they relate to the growth and production of the firm.
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 year college degree in a technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience using AutoCAD
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD. Must also be competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work with multi-discipline project teams.
• Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks.
Salary Range: $40,000 to $50,000
